Lead Removal

Lead is a highly toxic substance that can cause many negative health effects in humans, and is particularly dangerous to infants and children, who's bodies are more sensitive to the damaging effects of lead. Even low levels of lead exposed to children can result in learning problems, slowed growth, and damage to the brain, kidneys, and nervous system. 

Lead enters your water supply when plumbing materials such as pipes, faucets, and fixtures containing lead begin to corrode. A chemical reaction between water and your plumbing system causes the metal to wear away, leaching lead into your water supply. The severity of this reaction is dependent on a few factors including: 

• The acidity or alkalinity of your water 

• The amount of wear in the pipes 

• The temperature of the water / how long it stays in your plumbing system 

• The presence of protective coatings in the plumbing system
